BOHEMIANS TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR DUBLIN HOMELESS IN INAUGURAL WNL SEASON
August 5, 2020
Bohemian FC will use its first season in the top flight of the Women’s National League to help raise awareness for Dublin’s homeless.
The Bohs home and away jerseys will display the logo of Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH), a volunteer-run outreach charity who champion the cause and highlight the plight of those left behind by society in Dublin City.
ICHH volunteers run daily and nightly outreach services for those forced to sleep rough on Dublin’s streets, providing food, water, hot drinks, hygiene products and clothing, as well as advice for those seeking shelter.

ICHH director Anthony Flynn said: ”Homelessness has been and continues to be a scourge on our society - we need radical reforms and changes to secure proper housing provision. Bohemians’ efforts allow us to shine a light on homelessness.
“This is another fantastic initiative by Bohemians, who have used their platform to highlight inequality within the LGBTQ community, direct provision and now homelessness.”

Bohemian FC Commercial Director Daniel Lambert said: ”The work done by ICHH throughout the city is invaluable. They are a lifeline for the most vulnerable people in our society - those with no place to call home.
“We are proud as a club to use our name and profile to raise awareness on societal and human rights issues which impact upon us all. In this case, several of our club members and indeed a board member have actively volunteered with ICCH and see first hand the challenges faced by people forced to sleep on our streets.
“We also work, mainly through the Bohemian Foundation, with people with visual impairments, children in disadvantaged schools, people in prison, people in Direct Provision, people with mental disabilities and with older people.
“First and foremost, we are a football club. But it is as important that we have a net positive impact on our communities too.”

Club President Chris Brien added: “Bohemian Football Club is in and of our community, in particular Dublin’s inner-city and the northside, and we must support the community that supports us.
“Many of our players have become involved with our work in the community and make a contribution, and we encourage them to do so.
“This is an historic occasion for Bohemians and we are proud to have a WNL team wearing our colours. This is the start of our commitment to women’s football and we look forward to having more National League teams at underage level.
“We are delighted to be partnering with ICHH and, hopefully, this is the beginning of a relationship that will allow us to contribute positively to alleviating the homeless problem.”
Bohemians finally kick off the 2020 season, which was due to start in March but postponed due to Covid-19, with an away game against Wexford Youths at Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday.
