Bohemian FC unveil away jersey in conjunction with Guinness

Bohemian Football Club, in collaboration with Guinness, has today announced the release of the club’s 2025 away jersey.

100% fan-owned, Ireland’s oldest football club, Bohemian FC, unveil a new away shirt celebrating two of the city’s most famous institutions. Featuring a Guinness logo from the 1980s, alongside an O’Neill’s logo from the same era, on a cream body with thin red pinstripes throughout, as well as a black and cream collar and sleeve trims, and an embroidered hem tag of the Ha’penny Bridge with Irish and English inscription.

The exclusive and specially commissioned adult shirt is available for pre-order now at store.bohemians.ie and will ship from March 7th.

Shirts are also available immediately from ‘The Bohs Store’ in Glasnevin and on sale for visitors at ‘The Guinness Storehouse’ St James’s Gate, Dublin 8.

Proceeds from the shirt will go towards the development and running of the club – with ten percent (10%) of the profits going to ‘Bohs in the Community’ and its Pride Committee to help build upon the club’s continuing work in tackling homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in football across the island.

This will be done in conjunction with ‘Bohs in the Community’ partner organisations.

This is an exciting collaboration between two Dublin institutions, who are coming together in celebration and promotion of Irish football. Guinness and Bohemian FC, and its home Dalymount Park, are iconic landmarks in Dublin, less than a mile apart but separated by the river Liffey, which splits the North and South sides of the city.

The relationship between Guinness and Bohemian FC goes back to 1928 when the first partnership began with Guinness signage being introduced at Dalymount Park.

The Liffey, which has both split and bound the city for centuries, features as a backdrop in the specially commissioned launch video from Roddy Doyle. Roddy, a club member, describes it as a “love letter to Bohemians”.

The video is based on his iconic ‘Two Pints’ series in which the world is set to rights by two Dubs, played again in this specially commissioned piece by the originals from the Two Pints series, Philip Judge and Liam Carney.

In true Irish fashion, it also features concertina by Radie Peat, Dublin luthier Frank Tate rowing his currach through the city, and Camilla Anele in the new shirt. It was shot at ‘The Hut’ public house next to Dalymount Park, whose name is taken from the wooden dressing rooms in Dalymount’s early years that held Bohs and many international teams as the stadium became ‘The Home of Irish Football.’

Daniel Lambert | Bohemian FC COO:

“We are delighted that Guinness agreed to partner with us on this very special collaboration that brings together two Dublin institutions in support of Irish football. The Guinness brewery can be seen from the Tramway terrace in Dalymount Park and likewise the iconic Dalymount floodlights from the Gravity Bar at St James’s Gate. In many iconic photos of Dalymount through the decades, and the glory years of the stadium, famous Guinness iconography can be seen. To be able to work with the team at Guinness and design a new historic shirt that will reach fans around the world, promoting fan-owned football and Irish football is brilliant. And to once again have funds going towards such a worthy cause, and something that is still a very real problem for players and fans alike, is excellent.”

Roddy Doyle:

“The Two Pints men have been in my head for years, commenting on the big issues: politics, referendums and the deaths of legendary rock stars. So it’s great to finally have the opportunity to let them address the biggest issue and to say it loud: they love the Bohs. I loved writing their lines and seeing them come to life. It’s a love letter to Bohemians.”

Alan McAleenan | Marketing Director, Guinness Ireland:

“Through this collaboration, we’re proud to support Bohemian FC, a club that sits at the heart of the local community and brings people together through every goal, every pass, and every match. The partnership celebrates the coming together of two Dublin institutions, to promote and support modern Irish football and the League of Ireland – that’s something we’re incredibly excited to be part of.”

Aidan Martin | Representative of Bohs Pride Committee:

“In 2016, members of the group GayBohs proudly hung their flag at the Tramway End of Dalymount Park, becoming the first, and to-date only, LGBTQ+ fans group in Ireland. The year previous, Bohemian FC had taken the decision to support the Marriage Equality referendum. Since then, a group of Bohs fans have coalesced around the volunteer-led Pride Committee, marching at Pride annually, and leading innovative work to strive for a sport that is welcoming to all. Football has a long way to go before it welcomes diversity in all its guises, but our club prides itself in striving to achieve this. This collaboration with Guinness and the money raised from this jersey will directly assist our group in our fight to combat homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in football.”

About Bohemian Football Club

Bohemian FC is Ireland’s oldest football club, one of the world’s oldest 100% fan-owned football clubs and have been playing in Ireland’s top football division every year since 1890.

We are a not-for-profit football club run ‘by the people, for the people’, fully democratic and inclusive based on the value of ‘one person one vote’. Our core values are inclusivity and progressiveness with a commitment to use sport as a force for good to bring about positive change.

10% profits to combat homophobia in football in Ireland

Bohemian FC has for many years worked to make Bohemian FC a place for all, and in particular doing so with our LGBTQ+ supporters’ group ‘Gaybohs’ and the Bohs Pride committee. Through our social outreach team ‘Bohs in the Community’ we have in recent years, in partnership with Rethink Ireland and the Dublin Devils, launched the Pride on the Pitch project, which provides a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community to play football and access mental health supports.

Alongside our Club diversity partner, Dublin Bus, and LGBTQ+ football club, the Dublin Devils, we continue to host the annual Pride of Dalymount cup. This match between the Devils and a Bohs fans/legends XI is a source of great pride to our football Club.

2025 will mark the Club’s 4th consecutive participation in the Dublin Pride parade, which we participate in to highlight that football is often not a hospitable place for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and to publicise the ongoing work our supporters are engaged in.

For instance, in March this year, alongside many of our Club partners, we will launch a national survey aimed at LGBTQ+ people involved in football, to better understand the reality and issues they face. This survey, the first of its kind in Ireland, will provide us with the much-needed empirical data to publish recommendations for the sport’s governing body, the FAI, as well as all football clubs in Ireland, which we hope will result in a number of pilot schemes being launched nationwide.

Other examples of our work include hosting training workshops for coaches through our Club partner ShoutOut, to improve the experience of LGBTQ+ members within our community and academy teams. Also, hosting public meetings on the issue of LGBTQ+ diversity in Phibsboro Library and the Project Arts Centre, unveiling a Pride-themed mural in the centre of Phibsborough, and appearing on national radio and TV stations to highlight queer visibility within football. The funds raised from this jersey will greatly assist in continuing and expanding on our work in the area of the LGBTQ+ inclusion within Bohs and football in Ireland.
