Bohemian FC unveil 2025 third jersey in partnership with Fontaines DC raising funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians

Bohemian Football Club, in collaboration with Fontaines D.C., today announces the release of the club’s 2025 third (alternative) jersey.

Bohemian F.C., the League of Ireland’s oldest and 100% fan-owned football club, has partnered with Fontaines D.C. (“the defining band of their generation” – NME) to release our 2025 third jersey that raises funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians.

The collaboration brings together two of people’s greatest loves – music and sport – to support those affected by the crisis in Gaza.

The one-off jersey, designed by Fontaines D.C.’s own Carlos O’Connell in conjunction with Bohemian FC designers, pays homage to their award-winning 2024 album ROMANCE. It builds on the 2021 collaborative shirt between Bohs and Fontaines D.C. which highlighted and raised funds to combat homelessness in Ireland.

The video accompanying the launch was shot by Jamie Goldrick to the sound of ROMANCE album track ‘Horseness is the Whatness’. It takes inspiration from recent Fontaines D.C. videos which feature locations around Dalymount Park, home of Bohemians, in the heart of Dublin City.

A quote from that same track – “I thought it was love” – is printed around the neck while the ROMANCE colour scheme flows through the body and sleeve trims, while an embroidered hem tag features a Palestinian flag with the words ‘Saoirse don Phalaistín’ (Irish language for “Free Palestine”). The exclusive shirt is available to order now at shop-bohemianfc.com and will be shipped from Monday, December 9th.

To celebrate the release of the collaboration and two sold-out shows at Dublin’s 3 Arena, the Fontaines D.C. and Bohemian FC shirts will be available at Dalymount Park this Friday 6, and Saturday 7 December from 4-6 PM each day.

Fans will have the unique opportunity to be the first to buy the shirts alongside some exclusive items. A merch stall will be in operation at the halfway line of the stadium, (accessed via Dalymount Lane) and manned by Bohs member Pierce Callaghan, drummer of fast-rising post-punk Dublin band Gurriers. Jerseys will be available both days alongside very limited edition Fontaines D.C. scarfs (only available at Dalymount and one per person). Additionally, each shirt purchased comes with a free limited edition Fontaines D.C. badge.

Profits from the shirt will be sent to Medical Aid for Palestinians to go straight into their emergency response action – for what is most needed at that moment, for example the rehabilitation of Nasser hospital, limb reconstruction, procurement of antibiotics/saline bags/ultrasound gel/intravenous paracetamol/hot meals etc.

In the past 12 months their Gaza team has sourced and procured over 10 million dollars’ worth of essential supplies and remain one of the last operating INGOs in Gaza. They have also established 12 medical points in central and southern Gaza, in collaboration with local partners, and supported the rehabilitation of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

Daniel Lambert, COO Bohemian F.C. said:

“We are delighted to unveil this jersey following lots of work over the past few months with Fontaines, in particular Carlos as main designer and Trevor Dietz (manager). The rise of the band, since their days rehearsing in a garage in Phibsboro and early photoshoots in Dalymount has been spectacular, ‘Romance’ is an album that sits alongside the very best Irish albums of all-time. Even more impressive is to see them continuously highlight and speak about Palestine to bigger and bigger crowds and be unrelenting in their moral convictions.

“That we can raise further significant funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians through the shirt at such a tragic time once again shows the power of Sports and Music when combined. Medical Aid for Palestinians were one of the our three partners on funds raised from our game against the Palestinian women’s team in May, their first time playing in Europe, and also a beneficiary from our screening of the movie ‘Gaza’ in Dalymount in late 2023.”

Carlos O’Connell, Guitarist Fontaines D.C. said:

“There’s few institutions in this world who stand strong and unyielding against oppression. Bohemian F.C. is one of them and being a small part of this club has been an honour for us in FDC for a few years now. We will always stand with them and their values.”

Maddie Powell, Medical Aid for Palestinians Representative, said:

“MAP works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system. The money raised by this very special shirt by Bohemian FC and Fontaines D.C. will go towards providing lifesaving care in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. We are incredibly grateful for their support and the difference this will make.
“This further action builds on the brilliant work of the club in playing the Palestinian National team in Dublin earlier this year from which we also received a significant donation.”

30% Profits to Medical Aid for Palestinians

Bohemian F.C. and Fontaines D.C. are partnering with Medical Aid for Palestinians. We will work alongside MAPS, using 30% of shirt profits, to support their vital lifesaving work in Gaza.

MAP succeeded in becoming one of the first NGOs to get humanitarian aid into Gaza. Their first convoy of aid trucks carried urgently needed essential medicines and supplies including disposables for operating theatres and the treatment of traumatic injuries. This was delivered to four hospitals in southern Gaza on the 27th November 2023.

To date, 79 aid trucks from Egypt containing drugs, medical disposables, food and non-food items have been delivered to Gaza by MAPs. Additionally, almost 20,000 hot meals have been delivered to displaced families.

Donations will also contribute to their medical missions, through which they send doctors, nurses and specialists in their fields to volunteer and help Gaza’s near collapsed healthcare system. They have recently begun deploying medical professionals to Lebanon to support the waning healthcare system there also. They have so far sent 11 Emergency Medical Teams to Gaza.

About Fontaines D.C. / ROMANCE

Fontaines D.C. is the Dublin-born, London-based band made up of members Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums).

On 23 August 2024, they released their fourth album ROMANCE via XL Recordings. The James Ford-produced record constellate ideas that have been percolating among the band since 2021’s No.1 record Skinty Fia and tour with Arctic Monkeys.

The record builds upon sonic sensibilities the band started to experiment with on Skinty Fia, now reaching into grungier textures, hip-hop breaks and beats, shoegazey tones and contemporary electronic sounds. It is as indebted to their times listening to Shygirl and Sega Bodega as it is to old Hollywood soundtracks, Korn, Outkast, and A$AP Ferg. The album interrogates amorphous concepts of love and relationships, alienation and identity, fantasy and reality – all building to a central statement that Chatten sings of hauntingly, invitingly, on the opening track: “Maybe romance is a place”.

The album represents a provocative sonic and aesthetic era for the band and was met with an incredible response from fans and critics alike upon release. Selling more than twice as much as their acclaimed 2022 release Skinty Fia in the first week, ROMANCE received a host of five-star plaudits from the likes of NME, The Guardian, and Rolling Stone UK meanwhile songwriting legend Elton John recently declared that they’re “the best band out there at the moment”. With its innovative sound and captivating artistry, ROMANCE cements Fontaines D.C.’s status as “the defining band of their generation” (NME).

A summer of international live shows and festivals has drawn fans deeper into their rapidly expanding universe. After landmark performances on Glastonbury’s Park Stage and at the Reading & Leeds Festival, the band announced their biggest show yet: a now sold-out, 45,000-capacity headline concert at London’s Finsbury Park in August 2025. That same month, they will deliver an equally impressive 26,000-capacity outdoor show at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester. In the meantime, the quintet continues their extensive world tour, which will take them across North America, Canada, Europe, the UK, and Ireland throughout 2024, playing multiple sold-out shows.
