Bohemian FC unveil away jersey inspired by Thin Lizzy

Bohemian Football Club, in collaboration with Thin Lizzy management, has today announced the release of the Irish club’s 2024 away jersey.
100% fan-owned, the League of Ireland’s oldest football club, Bohemian FC, pay tribute to Thin Lizzy’s famous 1977 gig, Dublin’s first major Rock festival, which took place in the club’s stadium, Dalymount Park, on August 21st. Bringing together two of people’s greatest loves, music and sport, the one-off jersey pays homage to the famed gig, and the band’s Black Rose album, in its design. The video accompanying the launch, to the sound of ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’, took inspiration from Phil Lynott’s iconic ‘Old Town’ video locations including The Long Hall.
Featuring a quote from The Boys Are Back in Town on the neck, black rose detailing, designed by the great Jim Fitzpatrick, throughout the body, as well as sleeve trims, and an embroidered hem tag of an original concert poster on the lower front – the exclusive shirt is available for pre-order now at shop-bohemianfc.com. (Please note that depending on demand levels, delivery may take up to six weeks).
Ten percent (10%) of the profits from the shirt will be used by Bohemian Football Club to help bring music to disadvantaged and socially isolated children across Dublin. This will be done in conjunction with club partners for the project ‘Music Generation Dublin City’.
We wish to thank main club partners Des Kelly Interiors for working with us to enable this take place.
Promoted and booked by Pat Murphy, the day long concert featured Radiators from Space, Fairport Convention, the Boomtown Rats, Fairport Convention and Graham Parker and the Rumour. It took place the day after Phil Lynott’s 28th birthday and was widely advertised at the time with the line ‘celebrate Phil’s birthday’.

Daniel Lambert, Bohemian FC, COO:
“We are delighted to unveil this jersey today following lots of work on the idea. The Lizzy concert at Dalymount has always been mentioned in any lists of the greatest Irish gigs of all time. For Dalymount Park, it was the first concert held at our famous venue, setting the path for the many famous gigs to follow through the 80s and 90s. Thin Lizzy are one of the greatest Irish bands of all time, and for many Phil the greatest Dubliner, to pay tribute to them and the gig on the shirt is brilliant. A very special thanks to Jim Fitzpatrick for his permission to use the Black Rose throughout, and to Des Kelly Interiors for their continued willingness to work with us on unique shirts.”
Dave T, representative of Thin Lizzy:
“We are very excited to launch this special shirt with Bohemian FC, celebrating one of Ireland’s greatest ever gigs by one of Ireland’s greatest ever bands. It is particularly nice to have Jim Fitzpatrick’s iconic black rose design used in the pattern. We hope that the funds it will generate for Music Generation Dublin City will inspire young kids on the same streets that Phil once walked to pursue their love of music.”
Kieran McGuinness, Music Generation Representative:
“Music Generation Dublin City are proud and excited to partner with Bohemians FC on this fantastic project, and create further access to music education for children and young people in Dublin. The opportunity to create a fund to support young bands and acts will ensure we get close to our goal of making sure that everyone in our community, whatever their background, gets access to music tuition… and just maybe we can help develop the next Thin Lizzy!”

10% profits to assist young musicians with Music Generation
Bohemian FC is partnering with Music Generation Dublin City (MGDC), part of Ireland’s national music education programme. We will work alongside MGDC, using 10% of shirt profits, to provide access to music for underprivileged and socially excluded children across Dublin. This will enable opportunities for these children to create, play and perform music in their own communities and on their own terms.
Music Generation is Ireland’s National Music Education Programme which empowers children and young people to realise their full potential through access to and participation in, high-quality performance music education. Music Generation believes in an Ireland where every child and young person is given the opportunity to transform their lives through the power of music making and learning.
Music Generation Dublin City (MGDC) is managed and funded locally by City of Dublin ETB (CDETB), in partnership with Dublin City Council and local music education providers. Initiated by Music Network, Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Local Music Education Partnerships (LMEPs) in which Education and Training Boards and Local Authorities play a lead role.
