Bohemian FC can confirm that Ken Kiernan has this evening stepped down as manager of the women’s first team.
We wish to thank Ken for his efforts with the club over the past year.
Kiernan said: “It has been a pleasure and an honour to manage Bohemians this season. I’ve learned so much from every one of the staff and players, and loved my time at the club.
“As we all know, it was a very young side we put together this season and to compete the way we did throughout the year was great to be a part of, helping to improve players as a manager is always the key for me personally and we saw that all year.
“It was a brilliant building block for the women’s team. The club showed the trust in the academy players coming through into the team and they never let us down. This was supported heavily by Gavin Hughes and Alban Hysa with the U17s and U19s and their coaching teams, so I can’t thank them enough for their dedication.
“The solidarity game against Palestine was one of the most incredible events I have ever been a part of, and it left a lasting memory on society and how to send a message of hope across the world through football. It was also a game filled with drama too.
“To the board, everyone in the office, Pat Fenlon and Dave Henderson, thank you for your support. To have everything we needed to help the players improve and perform on and off the pitch was brilliant.
“Dalymount has been a special place to play this year and made all the better by the incredible volunteers and fans who were ever-present each week. I can’t thank you all enough for your unwavering support. It was amazing.
“Lastly, a special mention to our captain Rachael Kelly, vice captain Fiona Donnelly and Head of Logistics, Emma McDonagh – a huge huge thank you for all the small things you have done for us all, all the time.”
