Dean Williams

Bohemian Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of striker Dean Williams from Drogheda United on a multi-year deal.

Welcoming Williams to Dalymount Park, manager Declan Devine said: “Deano is a Dublin-based player and that is something I want at the club; local lads who get the club and who will have a feel for it.

“He is a young player who I feel is going to have a big future in this league.

“He is going to really benefit from coming back into a full-time environment and I feel that will enable him to push on as a player to another level.

“He is a different kind of striker to what we have at the club. I feel he is going to be a real poacher for us, and will get important goals for the club.”

Williams, 22, came through the ranks at Shamrock Rovers before loan spells with Athlone Town, Bray Wanderers and Longford Town, before moving to Drogheda United ahead of this season.

Williams said: “I have come here to be a goalscorer. That is what fans will expect and that is what I will expect from myself. I want to play well every week, and I will be giving 110%.

“It is great for me to be going back full-time. Obviously this year I was part-time with Drogheda United, which can be difficult, so the opportunity to go full-time was a big part in me wanting to come to Bohs.

“I think I have done well in the last year and a half, but I feel it is time for me to push on and go back to a full-time set-up and I’m delighted that is going to be with a club like Bohemians.

“We want to be up chasing with the top teams. The quality of players that Declan is bringing in has been really good so far. Hopefully it keeps going like that and we can bring in more good players and have a right go next season.”
