Direct Provision Gift Drive

We have once again teamed up with MASI, Bang Bang and DHL to get Christmas gifts to 1000 kids living in Direct Provision.

Times are really hard for everyone lately, we are collectively pulling through this but imagine you are a child in a Direct Provision Centre during all of this.

While we unfortunately cannot mix in person this year, we want to make sure kids living in Direct Provision know that they are not forgotten.

In 2018, thanks to so many of you, we managed to get gifts for almost 100 children in Clondalkin Direct Provision Centre.

Last year, thanks again to you, we got gifts for 500 kids and had a Christmas party in Dalymount Park thanks to RAMSI and Bang Bang.

This year we have spoken to MASI – Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland – and have set our target at 1000 children, who are without the things other kids take for granted.

Get behind this – let’s show them a huge Céad Míle Fáilte!

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will be doing the majority of donations online this year.

If you can, and are within the 5km of Bang Bang (Leinster St, Phibsborough), you can drop gifts in too.

(New gifts only and unwrapped please. We cannot accept very large items, or any second hand items whatsoever).

We’ve set a target of €30,000 (€30 for each child) and we will then work with toy retailers and One For All to get gifts for all children.

This is a joint collaboration between:

  • Bang Bang, who are leading on the call-out for donations
  • Bohemian Football Club where all gifts will be sorted, stored and packed and who will also promote
  • DHL Express Ireland, who have agreed once again to deliver the packages to the centres across Ireland
  • MASI, who are co-ordinating the list of children and on the ground contacts

Direct Provision needs to end. It is inhumane and degrading. But let’s at least make it slightly better for children this Christmas.
