Bohemians’ giant centre-half pairing were polls apart once again as they mopped up at the club’s Awards Night at the Temple Bar Hotel on Friday.
Club President Chris Brien presented the twin towers their awards, with Evan McMillan scooping Player of the Year and Kevin Feely picking up Young Player of the Year.
Both award winners were chosen by Bohemians fans through an online poll on the club’s Facebook page.
McMillan was the runaway winner in his category with 40% of the vote, with Ryan McEvoy (19%) and Luke Byrne (14%) second and third respectively.
It is the third year in a row that Evan has won a club Player of the Year award – he won the equivalent gong with St Pat’s last season and with UCD in 2010.
Predictably, this year’s Young Player of the Year Award was a close-run tw0-horse race between a pair who had both been consistent performers at the back all season – Feely and Byrne.
But Athy man Feely, 20, just edged it on the final straight, coming home in 48% ahead of Byrne, 19, on 41%.
But there was still time for one more presentation as club skipper Owen Heary handed over a signed and framed Bohemians jersey to Temple Bar Hotel man Robbie Byrne in appreciation of all the support Temple Bar Hotel, Alchemy and Buskers has shown the Gypsies this season.
