Dylan Thornton - Stephen Burke

Bohemians U19 captain Dylan Thornton has joined Bray Wanderers on loan to help him gain valuable first-team experience.

Bohs first-team manager Keith Long said: “Dylan is a brilliant lad, who has done fantastically well for us since coming to the club.

“He came into our U17s with Jimmy Mowlds from St Joseph’s but this is his third season with our U19s now.

“He’s done it all at that level. He’s captained our U19s, he’s won two league titles and he has represented his club in Europe in the Uefa Youth League.

“We feel that he is at a stage now where he needs to play first-team football to bring him forward even further.

“While we feel he’s not quite ready to do that with us just yet that being exposed to senior men’s football at Bray can help him hugely with his development.

“That can keep him progressing and developing as a player further instead of maybe stagnating a bit at U19 level where he’s done everything for us at this stage.

“We wish every success for him and for Bray during his time with them.”

Thornton, 19, will remain with Seagulls until the end of the season. Alex Kelly will take up the captain’s armband for Craig Sexton’s Bohs U19s.
