Bohemian FC and the National College of Ireland have teamed up to co-fund scholarships for players at the college.

Under the partnership, there will be two dedicated scholarships available each year, which allows up to six Bohemians players to be enrolled with NCI once the partnership reaches year three.

Bohemian FC President Chris Brien said: “National College of Ireland is a great fit for Bohs.

“This provides our players with a chance to attend a college that places a strong emphasis on well-being as well as academic success. There’s a huge appetite for sport in NCI and football in particular, and we’re looking forward to working with them.”

NCI Head of Sport Deryck Tormey said: “In NCI, we believe in a balance of sport and education so we’re delighted to be able to create this partnership with such a fantastic club and proud to be part of the Bohemians’ community.

“We’re looking forward to a future of working with Bohs, they’re players and, hopefully, future NCI students.”

Bohemian FC Director Daniel Lambert said: “We are delighted to announce this co-funded partnership with NCI, they are a first class educational institution located just under three miles from Dalymount.

“At Bohemian FC we firstly want to have players who are happy as people, satisfied that their non-playing lives are accommodated as much as their playing ones.

“Crucially, the nature of this partnership means that even if a player moves away from Bohemian FC for any reason we will still co-fund their education for the duration of the chosen course.

“This is something we are proud of as a club and again demonstrates our commitment to the holistic development of people.

“We are aiming for this to be first of many third level and vocational partnerships at Bohemian FC, allowing our players a wide and diverse set of educational opportunities.”
