Ali Reghba celebrates 23/4/2019

Bohemians can confirm that Ali Reghba has joined Premier League side Leicester City for an undisclosed fee subject to international clearance.

The 19-year-old shot to prominence last season when he rewarded Keith Long’s faith in him by scoring twice in his league debut in a 3-1 Dublin derby win away against St Patrick’s Athletic.

That first-team breakthrough came as no surprise to those working behind the scene at Bohs after the starring role Reghba has had for the club’s U19s.

Reghba shone for Craig Sexton’s Bohs U19s last term where his season highlights included scoring both goals in the Enda McGuill Cup final victory away to St Pat’s, netting in the Uefa Youth League against FC Midtjylland and capping it all off with the winner in the SSE Airtricity U19 League final away to Shamrock Rovers.

He impressed on trial for Leicester in winter before signing his first professional contract with Bohs.

Reghba, like Bohs full-back Andy Lyons, is set to fly to Armenia next week to represent Ireland in the U19 European Championships.

Tom Mohan’s side face Norway on July 15 before they take on France and Czech Republic.

Manager Keith Long said: “Everyone at Bohemians wishes Ali the very best of luck in his move and in Armenia with the U19s.

“He’s a successful graduate of our U19s and underage system and we wish him the very best for the future.”
