ABSENT FRIEND: PADDY HAYES
Posted in Latest NewsMay 23, 2021Comments Off
Paddy Hayes became a member of Bohs on 31 January 1967. He served as Vice-President from 1993/94 up to 2003, mostly working on the club’s Bar sub-committee.
When he stepped down from the management committee he was made an Hon. Life Vice-President.
A most faithful supporter, even in the darkest days his refrain was always that “something will turn up!”.
When we celebrated the League and Cup double in May 2001 there was Paddy almost casually walking to the podium with the FAI Cup.
Typical Bohs, forgetting to display one half of our double; typical Paddy, calmly smoothing over the gaffe.
I called and he turned, his ready smile outshining even the revered trophy itself.
The gentlest of men, a lovely friend to so many of us. We will never forget him.
